A rigorous review of health care practices at Carveth Care Centre has resulted in approval by Accreditation Canada.

After a three-day visit in mid-March, the organization stamped the long-term care home with a high rate of approval for its level of care; awarding the home accreditation.

This approval means Carveth Care Centre meets or exceeds the standard level of long-term health care in Canada.

“Carveth Care Centre is proud to invite Accreditation Canada into our home to review our programs, processes and services,” says Brett Gibson, Owner and Operator. “It is a great way to ensure we are offering the highest level of care to residents in our long-term care home.”

Accreditation Canada conducted the review March 12 to 14.

It applauded Carveth Care Centre for:

  • community engagement and partnerships
  • communications
  • benchmarking with its sister home in Amherstview
  • committing to new hires
  • using a Campus Care model
  • and, an excellent staff immunization rate

“We learned a great deal from the two accreditors about ways we can improve,” says Brett. “We will be working diligently over the next four years to meet the best practices used across the province.”

The home was rated on its patient safety, people-centred care, ethics, risk management, quality improvement and required organizational practices.

It took the home months to prepare for the review which was conducted by two surveyors who felt the home did exceptionally well with engagement & partnerships and individual care plans.

“We’re going to learn from this and get better,” says Gibson. “The accreditation process makes us stronger through quality improvement. We’re grateful for Accreditation Canada’s ability to share industry best practices. The review and comparison is a hard process to undertake, but we’re committed to a standard of excellence. Our residents and families deserve nothing less.”

Carveth Care Centre appreciates the expertise of Accreditation Canada and the hard work of our staff to prepare for this review.
