Katlyn Renaud wears her passion on her sleeve and holds her heart in the palm of her hand.

A Residential Aide at Carveth Care Centre since 2015, the 30-year-old mother of three is passionate about the wellbeing of others.

“Some of the people here don’t have family to visit,” she says when asked about her favourite part of the job. “I like to think I make their day a little better by making them feel welcome and loved.”

Known for her hard work and quick smile, Katlyn is the home’s Staff Spotlight for February.

“Katlyn has moved full circle in her role of Residential Aide,” explains Phyllis Lorbetskie, Manager of Carveth Retirement Lodge. “She is a kind and thoughtful worker with a constant twinkle in her eye and a smile for the residents. Katlyn is extremely dedicated and regularly picks up extra shifts. She is an asset to our team.”

Pleased with the feedback, Katlyn notes, “I like it here. I like the residents and the staff are awesome.”

When she’s not assisting residents of the accredited retirement home, Katlyn can be found at home raising her three children; preferably on a camping trip.

“I’m a mom,” she says lightheartedly. “I try to make them super happy. That’s my job.”

Asked to describe herself, she replies with a grin, “I think I’m hilarious. For the most part, I’m a hard worker. And I like to think I’m a good mom.”

Able to clean a fish, Katlyn breaks her goals down into short-term: camping this summer with her family, and long-term: raise her children to become good people.

“I’m just happy to keep them alive on a daily basis,” she says with a laugh.
