Home celebrates Seniors’ Month with Spa Day Featured
Residents at Helen Henderson Care Centre were pampered this month in a big way.
Treated to a Spa Day in celebration of June - Seniors’ Month, the pampering was a big hit with residents who received facials, manicures, hand massages and wide selection of games and food.
“The theme this month is Living Your Best Life,” confirms Donna Joudoin, Activity Director.
“We decided to pamper our residents with a Spa Day to help them live their best life.”
An accredited retirement and long-term care home in Amherstview, Helen Henderson Care Centre turned an activity room into a relaxation spa on June 15.
The program was lauded across Ontario as an innovative approach to the health and wellness of seniors.
“Residents enjoyed facials, manicures, pedicures, hand massages and an outdoor BBQ lunch,” says the Activity Director proudly.
“Specialty coffees were served in the morning and tropical drinks were offered in the afternoon.”
According to Donna, prizes were awarded throughout the day.
“We make the health and happiness of our residents our top priority,” says Sue Reynolds, Director of Care.
“This innovative program is just another example of how we take good care of our seniors. They had a great day!”
Smiling from the positive feedback, Donna hopes to repeat the popular activity next year.
“Spa day is a good example that you should live your best life, no matter how old you are,” she says kindly. “People need to continue to take good care of themselves. This program is a fun way to care for seniors who require long-term care.”
