A Kingston woman is earning praise for her hard work at a long-term care home in Amherstview.

Lisa Landis, 45, has worked as a Registered Nurse at Helen Henderson Care Centre for the past six months. She has been named the home’s Employee of the Month for October 2022.

Speaking on behalf of the home, Assistant Director of Care Melissa Locke notes, “Lisa is a strong leader in the home. She has a good rapport with residents, family and staff. She has strong nursing skills and a thorough understanding of long-term care.”

Pleased with the feedback, Lisa replies, “I love my job. I love being part of the amazing team here. Staff genuinely love the residents.”

The proud mother of two children, Lisa is a strong problem-solver. She describes herself as someone who likes dealing with challenges while staying positive and calm.

“I feel like I have a good sense of humour,” she says with a smile. “I also always try to see the good in people. Health care is a challenging work environment, so I try to put some light in there.”

When she’s not at work, Lisa likes to spend time with her family and attend her children’s extracurricular activities such as hockey, dance and baseball. She loves vacations with her family.

“I try to go for lots of walks,” she says about her time with her dog.

Asked about her future, Lisa is content with her home and work life.

“I’m kind of happy where I am,” she confirms. “I like being there for my children and my family. I don’t see any changes in the future.”
