A popular nursing home in Amherstview is expecting a special visitor this December who is going to arrive in a unique way.

Santa and Mrs. Claus are scheduled to arrive at Helen Henderson Care Centre in a horse drawn sleigh on Dec. 22. They will be dropped off around noon and will spend the day visiting residents and staff. There will be a photo area in the home for pictures along with hot apple cider and homemade cookies.

Speaking on behalf of the home, Activity Director Donna Joudoin notes, “Santa and Mrs. Claus will be visiting each area of our home and wishing our residents a merry Christmas. We are incredibly grateful for the ability of others to share joy and bring the Christmas spirit to our amazing residents. Christmas is about giving, and we are so fortunate to be part of a community that gives its time and shares its kindness.”

Helen Henderson Care Centre is home to more than 170 retirement and long-term care residents. Christmas is a special time in the home for both residents and staff.

“As a family owned and operated business, Helen Henderson Care Centre works hard to make occasions such as Christmas, extra special,” says Administrator Lisa Gibson. “The home is decorated beautifully, and we can’t wait to hear and see our residents smile and laugh with Santa on Dec. 22. We know we’re doing a good job when people are healthy and happy.”
