Margaret Wells knows a good thing when she sees it.

Sharp-witted at 98 years old, Margaret reflects back to more than 70 years ago when she married her husband within nine months of meeting each other.

“It doesn’t seem that long ago, really,” she says with a smile.

A widow for the past 14 years, Margaret likes to recall her marriage that spanned 60 years.

“I guess my work here on earth isn’t finished,” Margaret says kindly about life without her beloved husband, Earl. “But I’m not sure what I have left to do.”

Guided by her strong faith, Margaret is a valued member of the Helen Henderson Retirement Lodge family where she is President of Residents’ Council and Volunteer of the Year in 2008.

A resident of the retirement lodge for 15 years, Margaret spends her days knitting, reading and having fun with friends.

“We love our high tea,” she says with a chuckle.

“I don’t have any stress here. Everybody is so outgoing and friendly. Everybody looks after everybody else,” she says proudly of her extended family and home.

The community is invited to attend the home's 2016 Open House on May 1 and meet Margaret who is a mother of three, grandmother of six and great-grandmother of five.
