Lisa Inglis radiates happiness.

Dressed in a nursing shirt covered with purple butterflies, the Personal Support Worker smiles often while talking about her life and work.

“I love it,” she says quickly when asked about her job caring for seniors at Helen Henderson Care Centre, a retirement and long-term care home in the heart of Amherstview.

“When I started here, I had two jobs. I chose this place over the other one.

“I believe we work well as a team here,” Lisa explains about her decision. “I love the residents.

Married with two daughters, the 44-year-old is earning recognition for her positive attitude and compassionate health care.

She was nominated as the Employee of the Month for February by Sue Reynolds, Director of Care.

Managers were unified in their endorsement of the nomination.

“Lisa is a PSW who always has a smile on her face,” says Sue from her busy office in the home.

“She is always striving to bring staff together in positive ways, like initiating colour days or being an active participant in theme days.”

Looking around the memory care unit where she likes to work, Lisa smiles when told about the feedback from managers.

“I feel at home with these guys,” she explains kindly about residents who live in the secure wing for memory loss. “When I help them with their day-to-day activities, I feel like I have accomplished something meaningful that day.”

Born and raised in Kingston, Lisa will celebrate her 10th work anniversary at Helen Henderson Care Centre in July 2017.

Asked to describe herself, the fun-loving blond laughs and uses words such as energetic, friendly, happy and enthusiastic. She values her family at home, and her family at work.

“This home is like my second family,” Lisa admits kindly. “The atmosphere, the staff, the whole team. It’s wonderful here. Everyone works together as a team and it shows in the quality of care.”

“I’m just happy to contribute.”
